Michael Codanti Reports:
I have made a medium quality WMV (Windows Media) file out of all three parts [of the KGW Personal Telco story] and it only comes out to 1.7megs.

You can get it from here (Slow off of my server, feel free to host it somewhere with more bandwidth). I am going to make a higher quality one here.

Joe Smith’s March 26th KGW-TV story featured Adam Shand, Al Hooten and others at Personal Telco’s Pioneer Square “Wire-Free Zone”.

Other “wire-free” zones by Personal Telco include the Hawthorne Street Hostel and the Heaven Cafe in downtown Portland.

Adam explained that Personal Telco hopes to get businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations that have jurisdiction over public places or real estate to sponsor–i.e., pay for–WLAN networks at their particular locations or properties.

NYCWireless shares this philosophy. The rationale for sponsorship is based on the idea that providing Internet access enhances the social appeal of public places as well as the commercial value of private property that is used by the public.
