Strix Access/One Network combines multiple radio technologies - 802.11b/a/g and 802.15.1 Bluetooth - and a mesh network to distribute intelligence and switching throughout the network.
While other wireless LAN installations require an Ethernet cable for each WLAN access point, Strix links its network nodes to each other and back to the LAN via wireless RF connections.
Strix incorporates Atheros radios, but little information on price, architecture or availability is posted on their web site.
Personal Telco’s ManSig is trying to figure out how to build out and scale community networks. They have lots of links on Mesh Networking and Ad Hoc Networking.
