President Bush wants a new “Race to the Moon” – and send astronauts to Mars for a “national unifying purpose”.
What’s your idea for a national unifying purpose? Here are some other ideas:
- “Become Energy Independent in 10 Years. Currently, we import almost 60% of the oil we use. If we have the same commitment as we did in the 1960′s to get to the moon, we could reduce our dependence on imported energy to zero within 10 years. ”
- “Bring down national obesity levels. To lower the risk of heart disease. To get more Americans on the treadmill and off of inactivity.”
- “How about a goal to extend aid to every living person on earth, so that nobody goes hungry?”
- “How about a national goal to extend government-paid health care to every resident, like in my homeland of Canada?”
- “I’d like to see a National Movement to stop, or at least reduce, whining.”
- “A super efficient transport system. By eliminating human drivers, we can travel in electromagnetic pods, which will move much faster.”
- “FTL (faster-than light) communications could provide a spectacular new national- and world- unifying purpose by opening up practical communications to the universe at large.”
- “Send both George W. and Jeb Bush to the moon.”
