Ubicom, today announced support for Atheros 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN chipsets and high-throughput Super A/G feature set in release 6.2 of its Software Development Kit. With 92Mbps of routing performance, and over 51Mbps of uncompressed, WPA secured, this platform represents the highest performance solution targeted for the home user.

The additional performance and flexibility of the Ubicom IP3023 wireless network processor enables applications such as high definition streaming media and multifunction gateway devices says Ubicom. It enables the deployment of more demanding applications such as voice and video where poor network performance impacts the end user experience.

Ubicom is working with KarlNet for outdoor wireless customer premise equipment (CPE). Karnet uses proprietary firmware called TurboCell that enable more efficient use of Wi-Fi cards in metropolitan applications.

Ubicom is also using Intersil’s line of 802.11g cards. Ubicom has added support for repeater functionality and is working with Agere to deliver a wireless, standalone repeater access point. Their tiny server is the world’s smallest. Ubicom also showed a tiny repeater, slightly larger than a Compact Flash card, and an Intersil-based, 802.11g AP at the CES show
