Engadget has the goods on a great rumor (if true):
Verizon is currently test-marketinga new EV-DO wireless data plan called Mobile Media that costs fifteen bucks a month (the same as Sprint PCS Vision) and gives you unlimited data usage and access to their new streaming video service.
The phone they re testing the service with is LG s EV-DO-compatible VX8000 (right). Assuming everything goes as planned, they ll be introducing the new service in January (we re guessing at the big Consumer Electronics Show).
The package includes unlimited data usage, the VZW Wap Gateway and Homepage, and access to Mobile Media, Verizon’s new streaming video service on 3GPP phones.
The pilot program consists of 500 users, all of whom have been given LG VX8000 EV-DO handsets. If the trial proves successful, Mobile Media and the LG VX8000 may fully launch in January. Verizon Wireless says they now have 75,000 EV-DO subscribers.
Cheaper EV-DO could be a necessity if those 7 megapixel camera phones become popular.
