WaveRider Communications, today introduced the WaveRider ‘MobileWAN’ family that are said to enable companies to establish permanent or temporary wireless networks for high-speed voice and data communications.
WaveRider’s MobileWAN can be quickly installed in any location and offers mobility for end users, making WaveRider’s MobileWAN products suitable for public safety and emergency response applications such as police cars and municipal vehicles.
Operating in the unlicensed 900 MHz spectrum, WaveRider’s MobileWAN enables Ethernet connections to up to 100 user terminals per access point, with up to 2 Mbps peak over the air data transfer rates.
WaveRider will unveil its MobileWAN products to dealers, public safety professionals and other end users of wireless communications equipment at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas on April 6, 2005. The company expects to commence shipments of the MobileWAN systems during the second quarter of 2005.
WaveRider’s MobileWAN systems support Voice over IP, video, short message, and data communications. Each system includes a base terminal, access router, and user terminals that can be used for fixed or nomadic applications within the MobileWAN service area.
The 900 Mhz band is unlicensed, like the 2.5 Ghz and 5 GHz bands, although it has a more restricted bandwidth (about 28 MHz).
MaxStream has also released a 1 Watt, 900 Mhz modem for harsh outdoor environments. The 9XTend-NEMA is currently in-stock, with prices starting at $499 with volume discounts available.
Trango Broadband Wireless announced a 900 MHz product, the M900S-SU-EXT subscriber radio. The new 900MHz Subscriber Unit is interoperable with the current M900S Series platform.
