U.S. Telcos Test WiMax

The Denver Post reports on the progress that Qwest is making on their WiMax test in the Denver area. The Denver-based phone company is also working with Time Warner Telecom, a provider of corporate telecommunications services.

Here’s a hot rumor from Arstechnica:
It seems that some Sharp sales reps are bragging to potential customers that Apple will be using the Sharp LH7A400 SOC (system on a chip) in the initial version of the video iPod. According to Sharp’s product page, the LH7A400 contains the following hardware integrated into one low-power package:

Magnolia Passes Diversity Test

Magnolia Broadband, a developer of antenna diversity solutions for the wireless industry, announced today that they have successfully completed field trials of its DiversityPlus system with SK Telecom.
Magnolia says the test results showed similar performance gains in commercially designed handsets as previously experienced in test platforms with mobile transmit gains of 4 to 5 dB’s. [...]

Om Malik says Cell Phone Towers are on Google Maps. Cellreception.com uses Google maps to show nearby cell towers.
