Netgear today has released a WiFi gateway using MIMO that incorporates five separate functions.
The RangeMax DG834PN is a ADSL Modem, router, LAN switch and firewall as well as a wireless access point. The Netgear RangeMAX series of MIMO-based networking equipment uses multiple antennas to increase the speed and range of wireless LANs. The primary goal of the device is to increase range, the company said.
“The range of wireless networks is a constant concern, not only in office environments but in the home as well,” David A. James, Netgear’s director of product management and marketing for broadband services, said in a statement. “Our customers have asked us to provide them with a RangeMax version of our popular “5 in 1″ gateways as our best-selling RangeMax product line delivers range, stability and speeds unlike any other technology available on the market.
Netgear says RangeMax automatically senses change in the environment and selects from over 100 possible antenna configurations to deliver fastest connections and longer range.
