The Ressurection of Al Gore, by Karen Breslau, says…”Now Al Gore has found his true calling: using the power of technology to save the world”…
Her Wired story may not have much to do with wireless (Current.tv excepted), but it’s such a nice piece of writing, I thought I’d pass it along.
I’m still pumped after seeing Ira Glass this weekend. He spoke to a capacity crowd at Portland’s WordStock Festival.
Glass, who is related to minimalist composer Phillip Glass, brought a mixing board and an iPod to his talk, entertaining the crowd while providing his own brand of reality.
Mixing the craft of storytelling with passion is what This American Life is all about.
Ira said he hates Audible. They signed a 4 year contract before Podcasting became a phenomena. This American Life re-discovered the strength of radio…by telling stories.
Truth can be a powerful force. Often it’s just waiting to be “found”. Like StoryCorp. Like Fresh Air or George Galloway or Charlie Rose. Like Al Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth, opening May 24th. And like George C. Minden, who for 37 years ran a secret American program that put 10 million Western books and magazines in the hands of intellectuals in the Soviet Union.
Now anyone can.
