Gizmodo has pictures of a rumored PSP camera and GPS unit.
Gizmodo also describes a “simple” way to connect a GPS adapter to your PSP that costs around $130. It uses a Holux GPSlim236 device (~$100).
Meanwhile, Asus has an ultra-mobile PC with a built-in GPS receiver, webcam, and integrated fingerprint scanner (below).
It runs Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and features a 900MHz ultra-low voltage Intel Celeron M, 256MB of DDR 2 SDRAM, expandable to 768MB and a 7in LCD 1,280 x 800 display. There’s a choice of 20, 30, 40 or 60GB 4,200rpm hard drive.
Mount one on a bike for live event coverage. Intrepid tourists (or first responders) might even strap them on armbands. Good to go with Mobile WiMAX.
It would have been nice if the FCC provided 10-20 Mhz in the AWS band for exclusive use by municipalities for Mobile WiMAX. Nobody wants to pay a “cellular tax”.
