Albany NY: Free Fi

Albany (pop: 95,658), the state capital of New York, will begin deployment of Cisco’s ServiceMesh solution to provide free Internet access to residents and visitors, as well as public safety services.

In mid-December, Razor, a popular scooter manufacturer, plans to begin affixing EPC Gen 2 RFID tags to one model of its electric scooter bound for Wal-Mart, reports RF-ID Journal.

Runcom has announced the world’s first Mobile WiMAX Compact Flash card for Pocket PC, according to PDA Live.

Besides creating a prototype Mobile WiMAX (802.16e) transceiver on a CompactFlash card, the Israel-based company signed a collaboration agreement with Microsoft. The software giant agreed to help develop Windows Mobile 5.0 drivers to allow Plug and Play functionality. [...]

Cable Expands Phone Service

Comcast has become the first U.S. cable operator to take on telecommunications rivals in the cell phone market, having introduced the service in two cities, says Reuters.
