VeriWave says it has the first traffic generator / analyzer to test network equipment using the IEEE 802.11n standard. Their new 802.11n WaveBlade is said to leverage their innovative stateful client generation technology.

It will enable developers of communications chips, Access Points, and WLAN controllers, to bring solutions to market faster and at a lower cost, while increasing product quality through higher test coverage.

VeriWave incorporates a channel emulator into their 802.11n WaveBlade so it is capable of measuring performance in a wide variety of scenarios and the impact of MIMO interactions on Access Points (APs) and controllers. VeriWave’s integrated channel emulator is said to support all the defined IEEE channel models.

And when will the 802.11n standard be approved by the IEEE 802.11n committee (timeline)? Soon. Maybe. It’s a process. Glenn Fleishman says Apples 802.11n upgrade will NOT be $5, WILL be $5 and Will be $1.99. Pick one.

Meanwhile, Ward Sellers tells DailyWireless that Elektrosmog has a small handheld signal analyzer with a monochrome LCD screen that communicates to a PC over a USB cable, with amazing PC software.

It includes a log-periodic antenna that is calibrated from 700MHz to 6GHz and has time slot analysis for complex pulse signals and spread spectrum, which many expensive analyzers can’t do.
