An Intelligent Transportation Study examines advanced parking management systems in three venues: airports, central business districts, and transit park-and-ride locations. Advanced parking management systems (APMS) help people find parking spots quickly.

The systems examined in this study provide directional and space availability information to patrons as they proceed to the parking facility.

It’s expected that parking information will soon be available over cellphones, with Online Reservation Systems, too.

The city of Bellevue, WA, has an online real-time traffic map that alerts drivers to congestion on city streets. “We believe we are the first city in Washington state to do it,” said Mark Poch, the city’s traffic engineering manager.Bellevue’s map is similar to the popular online map provided by the real-time W-DOT freeway congestion maps.

Yahoo Traffic Maps are available on Mobile Devices while Google Maps for Mobile is also available on Smartphones like Treo. Windows Live Mobile also has traffic info. They get their info from Traffic.com. NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, acquire Traffic.com last year. Search Engine Watch explains it all.
