Proxim Wireless, today announced MeshMAX, a new multi-radio product line that incorporates WiMAX, Wi-Fi mesh, and Wi-Fi access.
MeshMAX increases the capacity of mesh networks, simplifies their deployment, and provides outdoor mobility for the 300 million-plus Wi-Fi clients, claims Proxim.
The ORiNOCO Wi-Fi Mesh Series (pdf) consists of an indoor access point, the AP-4000M (pdf) and a ruggedized, outdoor unit (AP-4000MR).
Proxim says seamless integration between ORiNOCO indoor and outdoor mesh access points enable existing indoor Wi-Fi mesh networks to extend outdoors.
The MeshMAX product line supports licensed WiMAX frequencies in 3.3-3.6 GHz bands and unlicensed frequencies in 5.1-5.8 GHz bands for backhaul. For mesh interconnect and Wi-Fi access, MeshMAX supports unlicensed mesh frequencies of 5.1-5.8 GHz and 2.4 GHz.
Proxim MeshMAXâ„¢products are currently being evaluated by service providers in a number of countries including Chunghwa Telecom, one of the largest telecommunications operators in Taiwan.
