Panasonic has introduced a Wi-Fi phone with bundled Skype software, reports EE Times.

The KX-WP1050 phone uses Wi-Fi to make and receive free Skype-to-Skype calls, and make and receive calls to and from landlines and mobile phones worldwide.

Panasonic provides a complete kit for the $399 phone, which includes a travel router that takes the complexity out of setting up the Wi-Fi access point and guarantees a secure wireless connection with automatic 256-bit AES encryption setup (WPA). The travel router can be plugged into a home, hotel or office network. Panasonic says it allows simultaneous WiFi access from a laptop and use of the Wi-Fi phone.

It features WPA-encrypted Wi-Fi and a loud handset speakerphone, as well as a built-in headset jack. The phones lithium-ion battery can provide up to 55 hours of standby time, and 4.5 hours talk time, and can be charged with the included travel router, or from a USB connection on a PC, Panasonic said.

The $399 WiFi phone kit is available at the Panasonic online store and will also be available in the Skype U.S. Web store.
