SOMA Networks today introduced the FlexMAX MS-G100 Gateway, a series of indoor, self-installable wireless broadband gateways based on the 802.16e-2005 standard.

The FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX family uses three types of antenna technologies for Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) coverage and greater indoor penetration, supporting both Wave 1 and Wave 2 functionality, with multi-antenna technology to increase the reach.

The FlexMAX MS-G100 Gateway claims to be the first Mobile WiMAX multi-function gateway to couple industry-leading coverage range and low power with multi-service broadband. Transmit power of up to 27 dBm, represents a 3-4 dBm increase in power, providing a 25%, or more, increase in cell radius, which translates into a one third reduction in the number of base stations, says SOMA.

“With the advantages of Mobile WiMAX technology and our experience in macro-cellular wireless deployments, the FlexMAX MS-G100 Gateway will make deploying Mobile WiMAX services easy, cost-effective and pervasive,” stated Tom Flak, Chief Marketing Officer, SOMA Networks.

The self-provisioning gateway includes options for up to four Ethernet ports and two analog jacks for connecting telephones and fax machines. Dual antennas offer the range and performance, to enable subscribers to move the device between home and office, and receive superior in-building coverage, eliminating the need for professional installation, special wiring, or externally mounted antennas.

The new series of MS-G100 Gateways support a wide range of licensed frequency bands including: 2.3-2.4 GHz, 2.5-2.7 GHz and 3.3-3.7 GHz. SOMA Networks is a Gold Sponsor of the 2007 WiMAX World Asia Conference and Expo taking place in Beijing, April 18-20, 2007.
