Apple’s iPhone will launch on 29 June in the US, reports the BBC, the NY Times, Think Secret and as seen on national tv spots (below).

The device combines the features of a mobile phone and personal digital assistant, but uses slower GPRS data links (not HSDPA). It will sell for $499 and $599, depending on configuration.

The phone’s much-touted feature is a completely touch-sensitive interface. Robert Scoble says
the Nokia N95 is a better iPhone. It includes GPS, Wi-Fi, music, video and a 5Mp camera.

Other iPhone replacement candidates include the T-Mobile Wing WiFi Phone ($299 with a two-year contract), Motorola’s V9 and V9m with a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, 3G support, video conferencing, a 500Mhz processor, USB 2.0, and “CrystalTalk” voice technology, and LG’s Prada Phone, which is even more expensive than Apple’s iPhone. It features a 2-megapixel camera, microSD cards, a 3-inch, 400×240 touch screen that can play videos in MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264 as well as music in AAC, MP3, WMA, and RealAudio standards.
