Do Not Call Registry

The National Do Not Call Registry (www.donotcall.gov), managed by the Federal Trade Commission, gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. The FTC says despite re-current E-mails, it is still not necessary to register Cell Phone Numbers. You can register your phone either via the Web or by calling 1-888-382-1222, directly.

Navini Beamforms WiMAX

Navini Networks today announced their first commercial implementation of 802.16e Mobile WiMAX software with beamforming (pdf). The first deployment is in Panama City, Panama, where operator Liberty Technologies has started implementing Navini’s software upgrade to convert their network to 16e.

MobileTV: Modeo KOed by Crown

Crown Castle International is selling off its mobile television business, called Modeo. Crown has agreed to lease Modeo’s nationwide spectrum for a dedicated mobile broadcast network to a pair of venture capital, reports RCR News.
