Broadcom Does “N” On a Chip

Broadcom today announced the world’s first full-featured, single-chip 802.11n solution. Broadcom says their newest member of the Broadcom Intensi-fi product family is not only the smallest and most cost-effective 802.11n solution on the market, but is the first to enable Wi-Fi products to achieve over 200 Megabits per second (Mbps) of actual wireless throughput.

AT&T, Verizon & Frontline Want 700Mhz Changes

Both Frontline Wireless and AT&T have asked the FCC to reconsider their requirements for the 700 MHz auction to be held this January.

Apple Warns About Unlocking iPhone

Apple warned Monday that IPhone owners who have unlocked their handsets so they could use carriers other than AT&T may end up with a phone that doesn’t work after the company’s next software update.

Atheros says its single-chip AR6001GL Radio-on-a-Chip was chosen to provide 802.11g connectivity in the Eye-Fi’s wireless SD memory card. The oft delayed and frequently hyped Eye-Fi Card may debut this fall. It allegedly enables wireless instant photo sharing by integrating Wi-Fi with an SD memory card.
