AT&T Delays MobileTV Launch

AT&T has delayed its broadcast mobile TV service launch to early 2008. Verizon Wireless launched it’s MediaFLO USA service under the V-Cast brand last March. Eight months ago AT&T committing to launching a similar service by the end of the year.

Colubris Does Paris

Colubris Networks, has been selected by Alcatel-Lucent and SFR, a major French telecom operator, to provide Wi-Fi equipment for the “Paris Wi-Fi” project. BridgeWave Communications has announced they have deployed Gigabit Ethernet wireless links to enable faster speeds at lower costs for the State of Oregon’s Judicial Department.

Cisco Buying Navini

Unstrung was right. Cisco Systems announced today an agreement to acquire WiMax vendor Navini Networks for $330 million in cash and assumed options.
The acquisition of Navini instantly makes Cisco a player in the WiMax market. WiMax is seen as particularly useful in the developing world, notes C/Net, where fixed infrastructure is scarce or nonexistent.
