Sequans Communications says its latest line of WiMAX chips will provide chips for Quanta Computer, the largest notebook computer ODM in the world (including the One Laptop per Child project).

Quanta will use the Sequans SQN1130 chip, recently named “best chip design” by WiMAX World USA.

The Sequans chip is WiMAX Forum Wave 2 ready, uses 2X2 MIMO and will be used in ExpressCards, PCI Express Minicards, PCMCIA cards, SDIO modules, IADs, USB dongles, and indoor CPE, according to the company.

“Using Sequans’ chips enables us to deliver high performing, highly reliable Mobile WiMAX devices to global markets,” said Frank Jiang, President of Quanta Microsystems. The ITU has blessed the 2.5 GHz band for WiMAX. World-wide.
