The Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona this week, featuresSeminars and Co-Located Events, bringing together the leaders from mobile operators and lots of exhibitors.
The Mobile World Congress provides a one-stop-shop for everyone looking to understand what will drive the success of the mobile industry over the next year. A ton of new products were annouced at the show.
Some include;
- Opera Software announced the commercial release of Opera Mobile 9.5 — the latest version of its award-winning Web browser for sophisticated feature phones and smartphones. It has been enhanced with innovations such as zooming and panning that make it easier to navigate, load pages quicker and get users closer to the Web content and entertainment they want. Users can experience the real Web and interact with content exactly as they do on their PC.
- ADC announced its new All IP-Radio Access Network (RAN) wireless solutions with outdoor, near-building and in-building coverage and capacity solutions, backhaul, and unified network management for mobile operators migrating to an all-IP mobile infrastructure.
- Near Field Communication was exhibited. NFC Forum members will present the latest results of public trials, pilots and deployments, and demonstrate exciting and innovative products.
- A functional femtocell reference platform was shown providing live voice, video, and high-speed data in real-time, showcasing AdvancedTCA’s FlexTCA family of fully-integrated systems
- LG unveiled its stylish new LG-KF510, a 10.9 mm thick slider.
- Ceragon Networks and RAD Data Communications announced a joint solution that delivers optimal mobile backhaul networking by leveraging Ceragon’s high-capacity microwave and RAD’s optimized mobile transport platform.
- Broadcom announced the world’s first 65 nanometer (nm) digital TV single-chip receivers that support the DVB-T and DVB-H standards. The system-on-a-chip (SoC) receivers are said to set a new precedent for radio performance and accommodate the stringent power and size constraints of cellular handsets that result in longer battery life, better reception and lower costs.
- NextWave Wireless showcase its range of innovative products and services including mobile TV, NextWave’s WiMAX technology and mobile media content solutions.
- Nokia will be showing off some added Touch UI features. With the benefit of Adobe’s Flash Lite plug-in, web-browsing in S60 Touch should surpass the iPhone’s web-browsing experience
- Samsung may be prepping a Nokia N95 challenger with the upcoming Samsung G810 handset, said to boast GSM/UMTS/3.6Mbps HSDPA connectivity, a Symbian S60 OS, GPS navigation, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR and USB 2.0, a 5-megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, anti-shake, face recognition, macro mode and autofocus and 150MB of memory and microSD memory card slot.
