The future of Philadelphia’s network, along with hundreds of municipal wireless projects, has become uncertain as subscriptions lagged, service proved expensive and prone to interference, and revenue models struggled. Earthlink is now getting out of the municipal wireless business, including Wireless Philadelphia, the nation’s first big-city municipal wireless initiative.
