CeBit starts this week in Hanover Germany (industry news). CeBit, March 4-9, expects 5,845 exhibitors from 77 countries. It’s the world’s largest telecommunications trade show.
Engadget has pictures. Among the announcements; the “New Generation” Eee PC at the ASUS booth.
It’s said to be similar to the 7-inch version but with an 8.9″ screen. The Eee Site says the new model will be be named the Eee PC 900 and have 1GB of RAM (up from 512MB) with SSD storage capacities of up to 12GB available.
ASUS is saving details for tomorrow’s press event, but the 9-inch Eee is expected to hit in the “middle” of 2008, with a €399 price (US$600?) rumored for the 12GB version. No word yet on US pricing or availability.
Asus has confirmed that both Microsoft and T-Mobile will make an appearance at its Cebit press conference, suggesting that the two companies are about to join the Eee PC bandwagon. Maybe a WiMAX connection, too?
