The March 2008 IEEE 802 Plenary Session (pdf) is being held at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, March 16-21, 2008.
This is a full 802 Plenary meeting, bringing together 802.11, 802.15, 802.16, 802.22 and a boatload of other 802.11 standards together under one roof.
Among the items on the agenda is the election of a new Chair and Vice Chair. Stuart Kerry, the genile Chairman of 802, has held the position since the literal turn of the century (2000). He is competing with 2 others, while at least 12 people are running for Vice Chair. By Friday the IEEE may have new officers.
Stuart Kerry Steps Down as IEEE 802 Chairman

| FLASH UPDATE:
Stuart Kerry announced today he will step down as the chair of 802.11, making it probable that a new chairperson will be elected this week. Kerry was given a standing ovation from IEEE members at the Plenary meeting in Orlando, Monday.
Under Kerry’s watch, IEEE 802.11 has become a global force for international standards and cooperation, bringing together hundreds of special interests world-wide — each inherently at odds with one another — and uniting them in common cause.
Kerry’s successor will have big shoes to fill.
