The March 2008 IEEE 802 Plenary Session (pdf), being held at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, March 16-21, has elected a new Chairman (Bruce Kraemer, right) and two new Vice Chairmen (Adrian Stevens and Jon Rosdahl).
The IEEE Executive Committee is expected to make it official by this Friday.
Stuart Kerry, the genial Chairman of 802, has held the position of Chairman of IEEE 802.11 since the year 2000.
The full 802 Plenary meeting, brought together 802.11, 802.15, 802.16, 802.22 and a boatload of other 802.11 standards together under one roof.
Bruce Kraemer has most recently been the chairman of IEEE 802.11n Task Force, shepparding “TGn”, an extension of WiFi with MIMO, through the (sometimes) bizarre standards process to its current draft standard status.
Kraemer has been with the IEEE for 12 years, in 802.11 and 802.15, was the Publicity chair, 5GSG, WNG and most recently has spend 3 years in TGn (802.11n) and IMT-Advanced Committees.
The two new Vice Chairmen are Adrian Stevens (from Intel) and Jon Rosdahl of the WiMedia Alliance and Samsung. The Study Group High Throughput (pdf) was authored by Jon Rosdahl.
