Arthur Firstenberg wants the city of Santa Fe, to ban WiFi in public buildings on the grounds that he and his associates are allergic to the radio waves, reports USA Today.
“I get chest pain. It doesn’t go away right away,” he tells KOB-TV.
The station says Firstenberg and dozens of “other electro-sensitive people” are arguing that the city’s proposal to establish WiFi hotspots in public places is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The city attorney is looking into the issue, according to KOB-TV. But the World Health Organization says there’s little to suggest that electromagnetic fields are responsible for the “range of non-specific symptoms” that such sufferers have described.
The city attorney hopes to have a legal recommendation by the end of the month.
