Google’s Chrome browser is now officially available here, writes Business Week. ArsTechnica, Walt Mossberg and C/Net have reviews.

Business Week has a video with Sergey Brin, Google’s cofounder and president of technology, after the demo at the Googleplex yesterday. It’s available for Windows now, with other OSes available later. Sergey Brin expects the technology will make its way to Android, the company’s mobile phone operating system and software platform.

Google Chrome is an open source browser with a minimal design that’s supposed to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Mozilla had some performance results of their own showing their forthcoming version of Firefox was faster than Google’s Chrome browser.

Most observers believe the Chrome browser will become a primary platform for Google’s web-based applications. Google’s web apps, such as Calendar, Word Processing and You Tube, rely more on “cloud” computing and less on an individual’s operating system.
