Today, BelAir Networks announced a new dual-radio, dual-band, BelAir20, an indoor access point featuring 802.11n. It’s designed to expand centrally managed and hosted public or private Wi-Fi networks.
The BelAir20 AP is configurable with wired or wireless backhaul, or as a bridge and complements the company’s portfolio of outdoor Wi-Fi nodes.
Belair lists these features of the new dual-radio unit:
- Leverages the same BelAirOS operating system and BelView network management used in BelAir’s outdoor nodes.
- Enables hosted software based control.
- Integrates with the service provider’s back office, easing deployment and operation.
- Expands the operator’s service reach in mobile indoor/outdoor opportunities.
- Provides wireless backhaul between APs.
It’s managed by BelView, their centralized management system.
BelAir’s portfolio now includes Wi-Fi, WiMAX, 4.9 GHz (Public Safety), 5.9 GHz (ITS), and 4.4 GHz (Military) bands. Their platforms include the new BelAir20 AP, their flagship four-radio BelAir200, the BelAir200D for Defense applications, the two and three-radio BelAir100, BelAir100T, BelAir100M, and the strand-mounted BelAir100S.
Cablevision’s $300M WiFi cloud for metropolitan New York City is using Belair’s 100S Strand Mounted AP (above) which supports DOCSIS 2.0 backhaul and 802.11a/b/g, Wi-Fi locally.
