Verizon boss Ivan Seidenberg gave competitors the what for in The Wall Street Journal today.
Sprint will “self-destruct” by failing to meet capacity demand following the launch their $50 unlimited deal on its iDEN-based Boost subsidiary, quoth Seidenberg. He also talks up the iPhone, saying that Apple had never seriously considered a CDMA version, but that he thinks the company will be much more receptive to talks once Big Red moves to LTE.
Critics may argue that Verizon will need to find spectrum for the coming bandwidth singularity. The “4G” band — at 2.6 GHz — is pretty much taken by Sprint and Clearwire. Maybe Verizon and AT&T plan on lots of LTE Femtocells around the house. Yeah. That’s the ticket.
In other news, Verizon released its initial set of LTE technical specifications this week for devices that will run on its Long Term Evolution network. The specifications are available for download at www.verizonwireless-opendevelopment.com.
