President Barack Obama’s speech in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday, June 4, 2009, will be available through SMS updates created by the US Department of State.

It will allow interested citizens from around the world to receive speech highlights via text message. Once registered, all participants will receive ‘live’ President Obama speech highlights. Enrolled participants are also invited to send in their comments to Obama Speech SMS highlights – via standard 2-way mobile SMS reply. Selected comments will be posted on www.america.gov/sms-comments.html.

The US Department of State selected Clickatell, a global mobile messaging provider, to build and power the online enrollment process and support the global delivery of ‘live’ mobile speech highlights via SMS. Clickatell currently covers 790 networks in more than 220 countries for outbound messages and almost 100 countries for inbound messages (two-way SMS).
