New mom Melissa Gray, a producer at NPR’s All Things Considered, tested the a new iPhone application called Cry Translator on her son, Thomas. She placed a microphone with him and watched from down the hall.
The Cry Translator, a $9.95 application is supposed to quickly identify five distinct cries made by infants: hungry, sleepy, annoyed, stressed or bored. But Gray says she could translate better.
Meanwhile, Google today launched three new features as well as a new look and feel for Google Translate — a service that helps people access information throughout the world by enabling them to automatically translate text and and web pages into their own language.
Google Translate offers 51 languages, representing over 98% of Internet users today and now translates your text right as you type. You can now also hear translations in spoken form by clicking the Speaker Icon.
