AdMob, which is being acquired by Google, today announced the launch of its new Interactive Video Ad Unit for the iPhone. This ad unit is the first to bring true interactivity to mobile video advertising with in-player actions that enable consumers to browse Web sites, view additional videos, and more while the video is playing.

The first ads will start running this week in select applications across AdMob’s iPhone ad network that reached more than 20 million unique iPhones and iPod touch devices worldwide in 2009.

Meanwhile, Stickam.com, the pioneer of live streaming video, today introduced an iPhone SDK for live video streaming into iPhone apps. The company says it provides a white label solution that allows developers to integrate live video streaming into any business, entertainment or educational iPhone app. The SDK utilizes Apple QuickTime’s H.264 HTTP live streaming functionality, with the addition of Stickam.com’s live chat integration so users can interact with each other from within the app directly and seamlessly.

With StreamAPI Stickam says companies can easily add live video streaming capabilities to their Web sites and online applications. With no monthly fees or up-front development costs, pricing is a predictable flat rate of 45 cents per gigabyte.

Ooyala says it is poised to capitalize on live-streamed sports, news, politics, weather, and even baby births. Last week, the Mountain View, Calif.-based company announced the implementation of a system to deliver “near-HD” quality for various online viewing formats.

At the NewTeeVee Live conference last Thursday, YouTube announced it is adding a new high-quality streaming option: full “1080p” resolution. The current “high-quality” option is 720p. The new resolution, as well as a new full-screen player, will roll out to all users within the next few days.
