Today Google announced a business-oriented, cloud-based app store called Google Apps Marketplace. Google says their new online store makes it easier for users and software providers to do business in the cloud by providing integrated business applications.
The Google Apps Marketplace allows Google Apps customers to easily discover, deploy and manage cloud applications that integrate with Google Apps. More than 50 companies are now selling applications across a range of businesses.
For example, Intuit Online Payroll offers business owners a new way to run payroll, pay taxes and let employees check paystubs all within one integrated online office environment. Other business applications are available and many more are expected.
Once installed to a company’s domain, these third-party applications work like native Google applications. With administrator approval, they may interact with calendar, email, document and/or contact data to increase productivity.
Google Apps feature several Web applications with similar functionality to traditional office suites, including: Gmail, Google Calendar, Talk, Docs and Sites.
