Proxim has announced its new Tsunami 8150-CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) series of products, designed to reduce the cost and complexity of deploying wireless broadband service.

The 8150-CPE supports both licensed frequency and license-free frequency bands in the 2.3 – 2.5 GHz and 4.9 – 6.1 GHz bands to maximize deployment flexibility in the field. License-free frequency bands worldwide provide reliable wireless broadband without the high cost of securing licensed frequencies.

It’s designed for quick, easy installation and compatible with all Tsunami MP-8100 products.

They support 2×2 Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output (MIMO) and can be deployed in Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) situations, indoors and outdoors, to enable quick installation even in hard to reach areas. The CPEs also support 256 bit AES encryption for high security applications.

With a list price of $399, the 8150-CPE will enable service providers to deploy wireless networks that exceed the performance of Cable/DSL alternatives at a fraction of the cost previously possible, says Proxim. The indoor version runs $299 (available starting August 2010).

The 8150-CPE leverages the same high-performance 4G technology utilized in Proxim’s Tsunami MP-8150 (right) and QB-8150 and are designed to provide over 100 Mbps of performance.

With up to 300 Mbps data rates, Proxim says the Tsunami MP-8100 delivers wireless performance in excess of 4G products on the market today. It provides flexible channel planning with support for a wide range of licensed and unlicensed frequencies from 4.9-6.4 GHz, 2.3-2.5 GHz and Supports Dynamic Frequency Selection globally in all 5GHz bands.

The Tsunami 8100 is the first Point to Multipoint product to provide dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE in/out, capable of powering 802.3af compliant IP video cameras or network radios for even greater ease of deployment.
