Quantcast says the share of mobile Web consumption is moving towards the Android

Quantcast says Android now has a 25 percent share of total mobile Web consumption in the US. Apple’s iOS, meanwhile, is seeing its share decline, from approximately 67 percent in May 2009 to 56 percent in August 2010.

At current rates, Android’s share could be equal to that of Apple’s iOS in another twelve months, according to Quantcast.

Research firm IDC says vendors will ship 269.6 million smartphones in 2010, compared with 173.5 million last year. Gartner last month listed Android as the top smartphone OS in the U.S. during the second quarter. Mobile broadband subscribers are projected to total 1.5 billion by 2015, according to a report released Tuesday by ABI Research.
