A slew of new 4G phones will be released in the next few days and weeks, reports InfoSynch World.
- Sprint released the first “4G” phone last June, the WiMAX-enabled HTC EVO 4G, then followed up with the Samsung Epic 4G and last month released the EVO Shift 4G.
- Verizon Wireless’ first 4G (LTE) smartphone, the HTC Thunderbolt, is expected in the next week or so.
- AT&T launched the anticipated HTC Inspire a few days ago, and will release the Motorola ATRIX 4G next week too.
- T-Mobile will release the Samsung Galaxy S 4G on February 23.
Both AT&T and T-Mobile use 3G HSPA technology but call it “4G”. Samsung’s Stealth V, Samsung’s Infuse 4G and Motorola’s Droid Bionic are expected by mid-2011.
It will be hard to top the coverage or speed of Verizon’s 700 MHz LTE, but data cost is the bottom line. And Apps. It’s about Apps. So far all the “4G” phones use Android.
