Netflix has updated all its video streaming apps for mobiles. The “more immersive” interface will debut on the the latest versions of Android 2.2, 2.3, and 3.x, the Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble Nook, and soon on the Apple iPad.
The new interface displays twice as many movies and TV shows as before. The new app looks similar to the Netflix website. There is a new “Continue Watching” row at the top to resume multiple shows and movies that users didn’t get a chance to finish.
Shares of Netflix plummeted almost 35% to $77.37 on Oct. 25 after reporting losing 800,000 U.S. subscribers in the third quarter, and predicting an unprofitable 2012 mostly due to its aggressive international expansion plan.
Cisco forecasts that 90 percent of consumer IP traffic will be video in 2013 and predicts that mobile data traffic will be overtaken by video, reaching 64 percent of total mobile IP traffic by 2013.
