Apple has made a Siri port legally possible with today’s iOS 5.0.1 revision, reports Cult of Mac, by offering wide-open access to system files that were previously encrypted.

According to iDownloadBlog.com, this new update now includes decrypted RAM disks, which essentially means that users can write a script for the iOS 5.0.1 update and extract files that one might need to effectively port Siri to another device.

If you are already running iOS 5.0.1 on your iPhone 4S, you will not be instructed to download and install it. You can, however, download it using a direct link, and installing it with iTunes.

There have been multiple methods proposed for running Siri on non-4S hardware in recent weeks, but all of them are either illegal or impractical.

To run Siri properly, one would need access to an iPhone 4S unique identifier and that key would need to be switched out every 24 hours to avoid detection. If thousands of devices start calling on Siri from one 4S identifier, Apple will be able to easily spot the activity and kill the port.

With Siri TV, Apple Will Dismantle the TV Networks, says All Things D, with Siri’s voice commands eliminating the need for TV remotes.
