Optical Drive for Tablets

Samsung has announced an optical drive designed to work with tablets using Android Honeycomb OS 3.1 or above. Users can now watch DVD content on their tablets. The bus-powered unit connects via USB, and it’ll work with Macs, PCs as well as ultrabooks.

The company claims it is the world’s thinnest external optical disk drive. Since many ultrabooks have only 2 USB ports, the SE-218BB’s single USB requirement will be attractive to ultrabook owners who need to power another device. The Samsung SE-218BB is available now with a MSRP of $59.99.
