DragonWave expanded its high-capacity microwave line today announcing the Horizon S-Series, operating in the unlicensed sub-6 GHz band for non-line-of-sight applications like public safety. Dragonwave says it delivers up to 200 Mbps with quick and easy installation.

DragonWave is also introducing the Horizon E-Series, operating in the licensed 70/80 GHz frequencies. The Horizon E-7000T provides up to 1 Gbps of asynchronous capacity per link and is designed for shorter-range deployments in urban environments, such as in a mobile backhaul scenario, microcellular backhaul applications or to provide enterprise connectivity.

“The addition of the Horizon S-Series and E-Series radios, coupled with the Avenue radio, positions DragonWave to provide a complete outdoor microcell backhaul solution for any mobile operator”, say Earl Lum, President of EJL Wireless Research. “These three frequency bands, 5.8GHz, 60GHz, 70/80GHz, are the primary bands for microcell base station wireless backhaul.”

DragonWave’s Horizon line of microwave systems is said to deliver high spectral efficiency and reliability for carrier-grade delivery. DragonWave’s Avenue portfolio offers fully integrated microcell platforms and microcell backhaul solutions.

Exalt offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of point-to-point microwave backhaul radio systems. They offer fully software-defined, software-programmable operation.

Exalt Communications says their new all-outdoor ExploreAir LR microwave backhaul systems, feature the industry’s lowest cost per megabit-mile. It operates at all major frequencies in the ANSI/FCC and ITU/ETSI bands, and is said to feature the ndustry’s highest system gain and highest capacity in a single polarization – 740 Mbps full duplex in 80 MHz of bandwidth. Field-replaceable diplexers that can reduce sparing costs up to 90 percent.

ExploreAir LR is available immediately with list prices starting at under $15,000 per link. Starting at under US$5,000 per link, ExtendAir all-outdoor systems comprise a complete line of entry-level Fast Ethernet/TDM zero-footprint microwave radios designed for operation in worldwide bands from 2 to 43 GHz.
