My favorite radio program, Radiolab, hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, is now available as an app for Android and iOS. The $2.99 app gets you access to every episode of the show, audio and video bonuses and news pertaining to the program.

The app also lets users submit audio recordings and end-credit readings for inclusion on the show.

Here’s an episode on Parasites to give you a taste.

Radio Lab has re-invented radio, much like This American Life did before it.

The Peabody Award-winning show is further pushing into the mainstream by signing with CAA (Creative Artists Agency), to expand Radiolab’s brand with film and television projects, tours and sponsorships.

The Public Radio Player is a free iPhone app that offers streaming audio from public radio stations across the United States. Transom.org offers new work and voices to public radio and public media, with tools, advice, and community. Both aspiring and established producers can distribute their work on PRX.

Until recently, slideshows with audio required video or Flash. HTML5 is changing that. The Codrops “Audio Slideshow with jPlayer” won’t work in older versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox, but Internet Explorer 10 and Firefox will soon play MP3s, then all major broswers (including mobile) can sync all manner of media.

The slideshow uses the versatile jPlayer (same as in PRX’s new audio player). That provides the text minutes-seconds counter and the progress bar. Both work by having a Flash fallback option.
