Intel Innovation Contest

Intel has partnered with Hyve, a German open innovation company, to hold a global online contest that invites people anywhere to use their imagination and present innovative ideas that embody a new sensing technology. HYVE AG, based in Munich, Germany, has partnered with Totem, a Silicon Valley-based innovation consultancy, to lead this Intel project.

Imagine five years into the future, and you have on you (or with you) a very small device that can see and hear, as well as remember and understand, everything around you. The question is simply: how should this ground-breaking technology best be used?

The contest is open to everyone, whether technology experts, students, science fiction fans, designers, self-appointed inventors, scientists or practical thinkers.

On behalf of Intel, HYVE will award prizes amounting to a total value of $10,000:

  • 1st place: $5,000
  • 2nd place: $2,500
  • 3rd place: $1,500
  • 4th-10th place: Non-monetary prizes such as vouchers or products (worth $1,000 in total)

The contest began on November 6th, 2012 and ideas are being accepted through December 18th, 2012. The ideas are posted online where registered users can review and comment openly. When submitting ideas, contestants are asked to select the life situation in which their product concept best fits.

The final winner selection will be made by a jury of renowned professionals from the fields of technology, business, arts and healthcare.
