Ruckus Wireless this week announced a dual-band ZoneFlex 7055 Wi-Fi wall mounted wired switch which is said to give hotel and resort operators a low-cost method of leveraging their existing wired infrastructure, while enabling the delivery of high-speed Wi-Fi.
The ZoneFlex 7055 Wi-Fi wall switch is said to uniquely combine wired and wireless connectivity in a small size. The integrated solution offers simultaneous operation of 2.4 and 5 GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi along with wireless meshing that fits into any standard United States or European electrical junction box.
Ruckus Wi-Fi wall switches have now been installed in over 100,000 hotel rooms in some of the world’s most prestigious properties.
“Like many hotels, the costs of running additional Ethernet cabling into every room to enable new services like IPTV while needing to provide a reliable Wi-Fi experience were daunting. This new Ruckus Wi-Fi wall switch will effectively solve these problems for us.” said David Heckaman, VP of Information Technology for Mandarin Oriental in North America.
