Exalt ExtendAir: Flexible Backhaul

Posted by Sam Churchill on

Exalt Communications introduced the 2nd generation of its ExtendAir family of microwave backhaul systems for both short-haul and medium-range links.

The ExtendAir G2 radios operate from 6 to 42 GHz, and the use of field-replaceable diplexers is said to reduce deployment costs. The ExtendAir G2 can start off at 25 Mbps and can scale to 370 Mbps full duplex as capacity demands change.

The system integrates a GigE switch supporting QoS, VLAN, and Ethernet jumbo frames. Exalt provides remote management as well as high security with FIPS-compliant 128-bit and 256-bit AES encryption.

The units are designed for easy tower or rooftop installation using 802.3at standard PoE. Pricing starts at under US$6,000 per link.

Exalt Communications makes microwave backhaul gear for service providers, mobile carriers, municipal Wi-Fi mesh networks, and emerging carriers, as well as education, healthcare, enterprise and government sectors.
