Wilocity, a leading developer of 60 GHz multi-gigabit wireless chipsets, says their Wilocity chipsets are now integrated into several new premium Dell Ultrabooks and mobile workstations.
Dell’s latest generation Latitude E7240 and E7440 Ultrabook, which became available in August, and the Precision M4800 and M6800 Workstations, which began shipping this month, feature the tri-band Wi-Fi chipset from Wilocity that integrates the multi-gigabit performance of the 60 GHz band with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band
The WiGig standard is now ratified by IEEE and incorporated into the Wi-Fi Alliance portfolio. It promises speeds up to 10 times faster than mainstream Wi-Fi, although it won’t go through walls. It’s designed primarily for connecting video displays wirelessly to devices.
