Today, Cloud4Wi, a provider of cloud-controlled Wi-Fi solutions, announced that it is expanding its managed services provider program into North America.
Managed services providers can create custom-branded Wi-Fi offerings and value-added services, including the first Wi-Fi marketplace, a diverse set of innovative applications hosted by Cloud4Wi.
Cloud4Wi’s partner program isn’t the only one after this market.
- Ruckus Wireless announced a Cloud-based Smart Wi-Fi Access Management Service (SAMS) in April Ruckus is targeting shopping malls, stadiums, convention centers, airports and retail outlets.
- GOWEX is providing Free WiFi for Miami, SF and NYC. In March 2013, GoWEX signed an agreement to deploy 2,000 Smart WiFi Zones at New York, then deployed a WiFi network in San Francisco in June of last year.
- Facebook WiFi, a partnership between Cisco and Facebook, allows Wi-Fi users to log into access points, using Facebook credentials, sharing their demographic data in the process.
- Comcast is creating a Hotspot 2.0 National Network using a new home-based, neighborhood hot-spot initiative, where subscribers host Wi-Fi hot spots that other Comcast customers can use.
Comcast aims to increase its WiFi network reach from 1 million access points to 8 million by the end of the year while Cablevision’s WiFi network has more than 100,000 access points and growing rapidly.
By 2018, the total installed base for carrier Wi-Fi hotspots will reach an estimated 55 million, and the carrier community is expected to deploy some 10.5 million new hotspots per year, not including enterprise hotspots.
