3.65GHz WiMAX Rolls Out

Webformix announced the launch of several WiMAX transmitters throughout Central Oregon this week. Webformix says they are the first to launch 3.65GHz WiMAX service on the West Coast.

Canadian AWS Auction is On

Canada’s government has launched an auction of wireless spectrum on Tuesday, reports Reuters, that will allow new players to break into the cellular phone market in the AWS band (1.7/2.1 GHz).

Arthur Firstenberg wants the city of Santa Fe, to ban WiFi in public buildings on the grounds that he and his associates are allergic to the radio waves, reports USA Today.

European 2.5 GHz Auctions & the Global Market

Sweden has concluded their auction of 2.6 GHz spectrum by the National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS). Auctioning 190 MHz in the in the 2.6 GHz band raised a total of SEK 2.1 billion (USD 346 million).

Sprint Looses Public Service Court Decision

A federal appeals court on Friday upheld the requirement that Sprint Nextel vacate some of their wireless channels adjoining public safety channels.
