Nokia Tablet as PVR

Nokia announced the WiMAX-enabled version of the N810 tablet at CTIA Wireless 2008 last week. It can be used on the Sprint/Clearwire XOHM network later this year.

BBC’s iPlayer on Nintendo

The BBC’s iPlayer video service will soon be available via the Nintendo Wii, reports the BBC.

Nokia Buying Trolltech

Pakistan Launches Nationwide WiMAX

Motorola today announced a contract with Wateen Telecom-Pakistan for the supply of 198,000 end-user WiMAX customer premises equipment (CPE) devices for both indoor and outdoor use. Motorola WiMAX 802.16e CPEs will provide wireless broadband in one of the fastest developing telecoms markets.

Nortel + Clearwire = VoIP

Nortel has signed a contract with wireless broadband pioneer Clearwire to deliver a complete carrier VoIP solution to provide a residential VoIP service to Clearwire’s U.S. customers. Nortel will also provide network engineering, multi-vendor network integration, network deployment and support.

Google Apps for Clearwire

Clearwire announced a partnership with Google on Tuesday that would incorporate the search giant’s applications, including Mail, Calendar and Talk into Clearwire’s wireless Web platform.
Under the agreement, Google will power some of the Web infrastructure that Clearwire customers will use, while Clearwire will control the look and feel of the interface.

Boingo + Broadcom = World Phone

Chip maker Broadcom said Tuesday it plans to integrate software from Wi-Fi access provider Boingo Wireless into its Wi-Fi phone chipset.
