Enforta’s Russian WiMAX Expands

Russian WiMAX operator Enforta has announced the expansion of its wireless broadband services to an additional 13 cities in Russia thus increasing the company’s overall service area to 68 cities. Thailand Gets Mobile WiMAX

Cisco Systems announced that Thailand’s TT&T is deploying its WiMAX network equipment at Mae Fah Luang University. It’s Thailand’s first production WiMAX network and Cisco’s first WiMAX win in the Asia Pacific market.

Sprint’s WiMAX service, Xohm will partner with location-based content providers including uLocate Communications, AccuWeather, Navteq and other services, said Art Spivy, director of content and community services for Xohm. Motorola announced today that REDtone, Malaysia’s leading alternative communications provider, has launched East Malaysia’s first WiMAX broadband service. Tranzeo Gets 3.65GHz Okay from FCC

Tranzeo Wireless, today announced that it has received Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval for its 3.5GHz WiMAX subscriber units in the United States for use in the semi-licensed band from 3.65-3.7GHz. The FCC recently made this spectrum available for licensing by wireless ISPs.
The TR-WMX-3.5-N, TR-WMX-3.5-17, and TR-WMX-3.5-20 subscriber units are included in the FCC approval. [...]

Clearwire Gains Access to Portland Streets

On Wednesday, the Portland City Council approved a permit extension giving internet service provider Clearwire access to install wireless equipment on city streets. As Pete Springer reports, this puts the city one step closer to its first WiMAX service.
